Sagittarius

Sagittarius as the 3rd painting for this series rather than focusing on the traditional archer imagery I found myself drawn to the symbolism of a bell.

Symbolism

Bells have long been associated with places of learning, spirituality, and gathering all themes that connect to the Sagittarius’ pursuit of knowledge, meaning, and expansion. Often college campus have a bell tower which connects it as well to themes of higher education.

The sound of the bell travels far and helps to mirror the Sagittarius desire to expand beyond boundaries.

The metal tubes and blue splashes shows the echoes of movement and ideas passing from person to person. The metal tubes reminding me of a relay race and passing the baton onto the next person, similar to how ideas and stories get passed on.

Music Ab/F

Songs:

The Less I Know the Better: Tame Impala, Royals: Lorde, 7 Rings: Ariana Grande, Lost: Frank Ocean

The music for this piece didn’t spark as much connects as the others, but did bring me the ideas of the different elements that came about for this painting. Themes that these songs explore while different in tone reflect forms of seeking, whether it be love, wealth, freedom, purpose, or belonging.

Some of the effects throughout the different songs reminded me of the ringing that certain instruments create.

Reflection

Sagittarius connects to my 2nd house of personal values, and growth. Something that has always been of high importance to me is learning and my education. Music being a key experience to my educational background as I pursuit Music Education in college. The different elements all showing aspects of how sound can travel throughout.
